A good suit is a good start: first-rate fabric, cut, tailoring and the capacity for years of wear without weathering.  But one good suit does not make a wardrobe.  A wardrobe includes a variety of garments, coordinated to face the most diverse occasions, from sporting outings to the most formal evenings.

And in order to be truly elegant, a wardrobe must be made to fit its wearer.  Beyond physical fit, an elegant garment must also suit the wearer´s physical type, character and personality.  " The elegant man listens to and follows his inner reason when he dresses; he does not mearly ´practice´ fashion"

Elegance can not be taught, but awareness of standards of good clouthing can.  And it is this awareness -of both his apparel and himself - that others notice about the elegant man.

Our experienced tailor will help you to select the styles to meet with your professional or social needs.  If you need help in choosing fabrics, you will get help in this area too, often giving you advice on the use of specific fabrics for certain types of garments.  We have a comprehensive collection of fashion books for your selection, also you are welcome to bring in magazine clippings, your own sketch or some garment you want the styles to be copied.  You will be measured and fitted by the same experienced tailor, who will cut your suit and follow the whole procedure until your suit is completed.  When you are having a suit made at Klæðskerastofan Ateljé Sari, you are not working with a salesman alone, an expert tailor will also walk you through.  We are sure you will enjoy the attention and expertise we offer you.

The Basics

In our unique fitting room (with full-length mirrors ) during the fitting you can see how the front, the back or the sides of the suit fits you while you stand naturally.  To maintain highest possible quality of workmanship, every item of our work is cut and tailored in our own workshop.

We keep your personal paper pattern as well as a complete record of styles and fabrics of what we have made for you, so that re-ordering becomes a pleasant (and simple) task. We can make almost any apparel, but we specialize in custom-made overcoats, tuxedos, suits, blazers, sport jackets, vest, slacks, and shirts.

If it is your first fitting with us, we ask that you wear your favorite suit-one that also fits you as you like a suit to fit.  Wear the business shoes you would wear with it as well.  That's all you need, we'll do the rest.

Many clients start with one suit, so that we can perfect it.  After that suit is completed and you are satisfied with fit and style, then you may want to move to a large order encompassing your wardrobe needs be they for business, weekends, Casual Fridays or Black Tie events.  We also create custom tailored uniforms.

If you have already had at least one suit made with us, whether you come to us in Laugavegur or Eiðistorg, we ask you to wear your by our tailor made suit so that we can assess how it fits and discuss improvements with you as we co-ordinate your next order.
